NAGPUR: Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM) eves retained the title in the Nagpur University Inter-College Table Tennis tournament at the Hislop College Hall here on Friday.
In a well-contested summit clash, RCOEM edged past Dr Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi 3-2. Samruddhi Khamgaonkar provided a perfect start by beating Aishwarya Harkare 11-6, 11-3, 11-2.
However in the second singles, RCOEM’s Shreshtha Gole lost to Pooja Somani 6-11, 13-11, 11-7, 4-11, 7-11. In the third singles, Ketki Fadnavis regained the lead for RCOEM when she trounced Vaishhnavi Shende 11-2, 11-2, 11-2.
The tie score was once again levelled 2-2 when Samruddhi lost to Ambedkar College’s Pooja 13-11, 2-11, 10-12, 11-13. In the decider, Shreastha Gole turned the tables on Aishwarya Harkare 11-8, 11-7, 11-7 which helped her team clinch the title.
Hislop College principal Dipti Christian, Nagpur District Table Tennis Association secretary Ashutosh Potnis, Kalpna Jadhav, chief referee Deepak Kanetkar and Saket Kanetkar gave away the prizes.
